Auditions are open to volunteer musicians only. Our orchestra is a blend of union and volunteer players, and at this time we have openings exclusively for volunteer positions.
Please prepare a five‑minute audition, consisting of three minutes of traditional solo repertoire for your instrument and a recording of at least four excerpts selected from the website:
PS: If you play tuba, percussion (multiple instruments such as snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, keyboards), harp, or piano, you may select up to three excerpts from your instrument’s orchestral tradicional repertoire to record and submit.
The submitted video must contain no cuts or edits: the solo work must be recorded in a single uninterrupted take, and the excerpts must also be recorded in one continuous take. Upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted link and submit the URL in the form below.
A team from the orchestra — including the Artistic Director, the Concertmaster, and Section Principals — will evaluate your audition, and the panel’s decision must be unanimous for admission. Once a decision has been made, you will be notified by email.
Please note: some instruments do not have openings at the moment; however, opportunities may arise throughout the season. If you are approved, your name will be placed on a waiting list for future openings.
Concert dates and performance venues will be announced at a later time. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m., normaly 3 weeks before the concert, in the vicinity of the Energy Corridor. Any absences or delays must be communicated in advance to the Personnel Manager prior to rehearsals or performances.
In addition to our major concerts, we offer collaborative projects and small‑ensemble performance opportunities that you may choose to participate in.
Finally, we strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone on stage and in the audience, so please come prepared to make new friends and spend time doing what we all love — making great music together. For this reason, each volunteer musician will have a one‑year probationary period, after which their continued participation may or may not be confirmed.
